Glad to hear of this change. I have been waiting for this rather than altering the n1 lenses.
Will this adaptation work with the 45-90?

Hi Bird,
I'm thinking to move ahead with the NAM1 conversion. If later the 55 and 350 are supported, will you be able to offer free upgrade for those who covert them now?
Also, Can you post some 645 pics? |

I have the feeling that I will never be able to purchase those 2 lenses, so I would advise you to make purchase decisions as if those 2 lenses will never be supported.
Having known the prices when they were new in 2005, I am not willing to pay for jacked-up prices that lens traders are currently asking for.
The Distagon 55/3.5 in particular was intended as a kit lens substitute for Planar 2/80 and used to price below USD1,000 new. It is neither as wide as the 45/2.8, nor as fast, so I fail to understand why on the second hand market the 55 commands a higher price than the 45. This is totally irrational.
I am sure the Distagon 55 is great in 645 format but on a full frame DSLR I question the utility of a normal lens with only a f/3.5 maximum aperture whose weight and bulk are significantly greater than that of the Contax N 50/1.4. I fully expect that the Vario-Sonnar 24-85 will achieve the same result on a full-frame DSLR and the Planar 50/1.4 will far exceed it in terms of capabilities.
I will take some shots when I have time. (I will apologize in advance that me having time is a rare event, and it is my full intention to work full time on Christmas day like all these years before since 2004 when I first started working on this Contax N to Canon EF mount conversion project.) |

Bo Ming,
I would guess that once the NAM-1 conversion is perfected, it should allow the use of all the 645 lenses. With the exception of the 55mm and the 350mm, I think that I would be ready to go. Guess that I would have to supply my own NAM-1 adapter.
I don't see any user reviews on the Zeiss N 28-80mm lens. How is that lens performance overall? I'm curious as to how it performs.

Conurus,
My wife and I are making plans for a trip through Vancouver to Whistler in April.
Is it possible to make an appointment for the Nam-1 conversion to be done while we are in Vancouver? I would deliver the piece to you then.
If this is not possible, please advise the current wait times after you receive the peice in the mail?
Regards,
Arlen |

A sales tax of 12% is charged on all local orders. You may drop it off in Vancouver and we could ship it out to Texas in order to avoid the sales tax.

Conurus,
I don't mind paying the Canada tax. It will save me the shipping/insurance to and from - not to mention the worry about it getting lost in transit.
I would also like to be able to take the adapter and lenses with us to Whistler. The scenery there is magnificent. The skiing isn't half bad either.
What do you need from me in advance to set this up?
Regards,
Arlen |

I would like to buy an adapter for my Planar 2 / 80 and the Sonnar 2.8/140 to work with the EOS 1Ds. How can I do? I have to buy an adapter NAM-1 and deliver it to you to work? |
