Dear Bo-ming,
My wide angle lens auto focus failed after canon firmware up date to
2.0.4 (24 fps for pal system) please advise is the ultrasonic motor failed
and or the camera can't communicated with the lens,the camera focus light up when manually focus on the focus point./
( ps ) my lens firmware is v2.8s on your database but actually v3.0 after updated last time we meet.thanks

I just updated my 5D mark II to the latest firmware v2.0.7, and my 17-35 continued to autofocus as usual. I tried lens firmware versions 3.00 and 3.10.

So, I am afraid it is a malfunctioning ultrasonic motor. I am planning a trip to Hong Kong in October and I would be more than happy to fix it for you. You may also send your lens to me right away if you cannot wait.

Hi, Bo-ming,

I have a few lenses for modification, can I wait until you come to Hong Kong for modification ? By the time I mail it to you, you properly out of town ?!

Yes sure! Don't send to us at this point and looking forward to meet you in October. I have not decided how long I am going to stay yet, but I sure will try my best to accommodate your lens conversion needs while I am in Hong Kong. If I don't have enough time or enough tools or enough parts, I will carry them on the plane back to Canada and mail them back to you when I am done.
