Hello,
Have aquirred 17-35 preconverted from PhotoVillage NYC. Great lens. Unbelievable really. Color, detail, shading, amazing. Really confirms my prior experience with canon glass_completely unnacceptable crap on the wide end of things (everything they ever made below a 50). Prior solution?
Shoot all wide shots on Pentax 67ll with 45mm lens.
Conurtax lens lives on 1DS mark lll now.Pentax for sale.
One question though. Does anybody else find that 2.8 is totally useless? I mean mine is not "edge darkness" . Its a bright spot in the middle of a field of darkness. Then all gone and magic at f3.2.

With Hood In Place?
Filter Of Any Sort?
It Does Not Mimic My Experience Without Either In Place...
Then It Depends On The Filter And FL.

I have seen what you are talking about with the hood in place at f/2.8 @ 17mm. I have not done extensive shooting with this combo yet as I just got the 1Ds III. I'll do some experimenting and see what I come up with. |

Both hoods GB-103 and GB-101 will give minimal vignetting at fl 17, though less with the 103 in my experience.

fellow conurized photographers,
thanks for your replies. i was not lucky enough to get a hood with mine. and i dont shoot digital with filters yet because the filter manufacture has not been fixed for digital (thats another topic though).
And yes the sample at planet wide replicates my results exactly and also plainly shows what a piece of junk the canon 16-35 is.

Sorry for the extremely slow reply to this thread! GB-103 hood with no filter.
Non-scientific test shot using AV at f/2.8.
Non-scientific test shot using AV at f/5.6.
