I recently bought a Contax N 50mm Planar. This was my most used lens on the Contax, so it would be great to have the same glass on my Canon.
You mentioned conversion would be availabe during this year and the seller (an old friend) proposed to ship the lens to Conurus for me as soon that would be fine.

Now can, I send it in already or do you prefer not to have them lying around in your workshop until the conversion can be done? Thanks

We would have to wait several months more for the N50 conversion. It appears to me that it might be better if you hold onto it for the time being.

I too am looking forward to your 50 conversion availability. I don't even own one and have had my on the EF 50 1.2, until Frances told me about what you are up to. I don't really have anything else to add, but wouldn't want you thinking I'm a bot (not just yet...).

Thanks for this fine contribution.

Yes, I too an "screaming" for a 50mm f1.4 N Planar conversion. I really could have used it the other night when I had to srtuggles with an c/y 50mm Planar and andapter in low-light, inconsistent lighting, and a constantly moving subject. Lot's of missed shots -- auto-focus and auto aperture, would have been a big help.

How many months wait does "several" imply? Smile

I'd really like to know this, too, at least some rough guess would be welcome (does the original plan to support all N lenses in 2007 still stand?).

I'm about to move to full frame and would definitely want a great normal lens. The EF 50/1.4 did not make me happy, the 50/1.2L is a tad expensive for my taste, but a converted 50/1.4 N could be just what I'm looking for.

My 50mm is waiting for the conversion as well. That's the last of the N mounts I want converted - it's on to the 645 lenses after that

Just curious as to what the kink in the chain is for the conversion for the 50mm lens and when do you see it becoming available Smile

Thanks

Sorry for bumping this one up. I found it was ok to ask a question in this threat, hope the OT does not mind.

Does the 1.4/50 have the hexagonal aperture blades from the old Contax/Y? Is there a way I can close the aperture without a Contax N camera? Thanks

Instead of a Canon EF mount, you may special order a conversion with aperture control.

There will be a pair of wires for supplying power to the lens. The aperture is controlled by the aperture ring of the lens. What is your intended application if you wouldn't mind letting me know?

Hi Bo-Ming
the 50mm lens is my most used lens and I have a drawer full of them at home but I still dont have one with Aperture control and the bokeh of the ZF planar.
Now I think about selling some of my other lenses and getting the 50L, despite the focus shift flaw, until you are able to convert the Contax N.

Knowing the shape of the blades would permit me to make the right choice which to keep.

Sorry I misunderstood your question. I thought you might be trying to use the lens on something other than Canon EF.
