The prices for the unconverted lenses range from $1700 to $4000. It's f/4, which isn't f/2.8 but if it gives the Canon EF 400mm f/5.6 a run for its money (and the Canon is very sharp), then the 1.4x gives you a 400 f/4 and a 560 f/5.6 with AF, which might be worth it. And it may be a more affordable choice than the EF 400 f/2.8, which is wonderful but a beast and $6000. I'm curious whether advances in quality of ISO 3200 and 6400 on the 5D Mk II might make f/4 just fast enough.... |
