The Contax NX is released by Kyocera in 2000. If I look back on the Sigma lenses 1995 catalogue, I do see a Mini Zoom Macro 28-80mm f3.5-5.6 and APO Zoom Macro 70-210mm f3.5-4.5. Sigma also release a 28-80mm f3.5-4.5 Mini Zoom Macro HF in 2000 but there is no further development on any 70-200(210) f3.5-4.5 lens. So it is likely Kyocera could have jointly developed the 28-80 with Sigma while have gone its own way with the 70-200 after adopting the 1995 design. 4-5 years to work on the lens seems right? |
