With night scenes containing point light sources, we observed ghosting when there is a UV filter in front of the Planar 50/1.4. The UV filter is multi-coated and is of high quality but ghosting is still observed. The ghosting problem goes away as soon as the front UV filter is removed.

We advise users to remove any protective front filter when making any exposures at night when the scene contains point light sources.

The green dots in the 100% crop disappear when the front multi-coated UV filter is removed. Stopping down does not make any difference.
