Would our beautiful lenses be AF compatible with the new Sony A7/A7R? |

Hi Bo-Ming,
I noticed on Metabones' website, the EF-NEX v3 adapter has been tested with A7/A7r. You also mentioned that firmware v18 (May 2013) has AF enabled for Contax N lenses.
Will there be a v19 firmware or adaptor v4 after the official release of A7/A7r? Is there a timeline if this is already in the pipe?
I am looking to buy this adapter for A7 but do not want to be caught in a situation where there will be a new adapter in the not too distant future.
cheers. |

Hello Bo-Ming,
Are you able to provide any further info on EF-NEX adapter development plans? Thank you. |

Sorry but we are not able to disclose any future product plans here.
We have not received or seen any issues with A7/A7R + Metabones Mark III yet - it just worked right from the start. We are continually enhancing the firmware and releasing new versions all the time, but nothing specific to A7/A7R right now is being worked on, because none is required. _________________ I am a bird and I uncovered the E, EF and N-mount communication protocols! |

Hello Bo-Ming,
Thank you for that information.
A further question if you would consider: For future product versions and update releases, would it be possible to design them with user-upgradable firmware to eliminate the shipping turnaround procedure?
I am holding off on upgrading my version 1 of the EF-to-E-mount adapter until after the new Sony A7 bodies are out. This return will be the third time for this adapter, and I understand if V1 was not designed to be user-upgradable.
Also, given the design of my current V1 adapter, I am certain that I will need to purchase a second adapter, V3 or a newer model version, having the larger round opening to use on either of the A7 bodies. I still use two of the APS-C NEX bodies, so the V1 upgrade is valuable to me.
Thank you for your time. Best, |

let's see this video. I didn't mean any pressure to conurus but I prefer product from Bo-ming.

Thank you for your video! Sorry for removing your link to a competitor but we do get your point. We think it is an intruging possibility to mount Contax N lenses on the A7R. That said, we would reiterate our standard policy of not commenting on future products. We may or may not be working on it, and we would neither confirm nor deny. _________________ I am a bird and I uncovered the E, EF and N-mount communication protocols! |
