Has anybody used a 45mm Hartblei shift lens with an adapter on the 5D mark 2?
I have tried it and it seems like the mirror is hitting the lens internally so not working as I would hoped. Is their a way to make this work?

Hi Douglas,

Excuse me if I misinterpreted your question but I would have to guess a little bit what happened - correct me if I am wrong.

1, the lens is some incarnation of 45mm Hartblei shift lens in Contax 645 mount,

2, the adapter is a NAM-1 adapter converted to Canon EF mount by us, and

3, the problem is when you trip the shutter the camera displays Err-01.

Unfortunately a converted NAM-1 adapter requires an electronic lens to operate (one of the 9 Contax 645 lenses). A converted NAM-1 adapter is incompatible with lenses of other brands which do not have the necessary electronics to communicate with the camera body.

A workaround is to tape the electrical contacts on the Canon side.
