|
|
Hi Conurus :
Does the N17-35f2.8 compatible with Canon 1V with your new mount?
If not, will there be a newer version in the future which can?
Currently , beside 1N, which other Canon film camera models are compatible with the above lens?
Thanks a lot in advance,
Anthony |

No, it does not work with the 1V and I am still investigating why. The main difficulty is obtaining the camera but I don't think there are enough 1V users out there for me to invest in one of these just to make it work.
Compatible film cameras include Elan 7E (30E), Rebel G (500), Rebel G II (3000), 630 and 1N. If you know of cameras which work or does not work, please let me know. _________________ I am a bird and I uncovered the E, EF and N-mount communication protocols! |

But, if you know of somebody selling a 1V, 1D (mark I) or 1Ds (mark I) for a reasonable price, please let me know. _________________ I am a bird and I uncovered the E, EF and N-mount communication protocols! |

No. Sorry. I have heard from one customer so far and that was a failure.
The compatibility matrix can be found here:
http://en.conurus.com/faq.html#compatibility
If there are any errors or omissions in that matrix, please let me know, or you may just post it here.
I just purchased a used EOS 1D (mark I) to investigate. We have been having compatibility problems with cameras introduced in 2001 and 2002. _________________ I am a bird and I uncovered the E, EF and N-mount communication protocols! |

I only have the old 1Ds. Anyway I was just outbid on ebay (3rd time on 17-35 already), I was hoping someone outbid me actually. At the end of the day I still can't afford an ultra wide and I feel guilty because I helped driving the price up. |

Let me tell you my story if it makes you feel any better.
Last year, I could easily bid on a 17-35 for US$1,000. I bought only one copy for around $900 for my lab, and it had a scratch on the front. I wish I had the cash to stock them up, but all my money were tied up in manufacturing the mounts.
Ironically, I am a victim of my own success. I now have to pay $500 more even though it is me who made this possible. It is hard to swallow, so I will have to live with my one and only imperfect copy. Expect prices to continue to climb. It is only the beginning! |

It is fixed!!! I got the compatbility problem fixed soon after my 1D arrived. 1V and 1D are designed at the same time and used to exhibit the same problem, so we may assume that 1V is also fixed. _________________ I am a bird and I uncovered the E, EF and N-mount communication protocols! |
