Does the queue position in the tracking system for conversions get updated? My position hasn't changed in a couple of weeks, and I'm trying to be patient, but would like to set my expectations. Am I wasting my time to keep checking the queue position each week?

Sorry but the queue is currently not moving. I am working on a new firmware version and I would like to finish that first so that all customers will benefit from it. If you need your lens urgently I will do yours first and ship yours first with the existing firmware version. Thank you very much!

I'll wait for the latest version. I just noticed that the queue position wasn't changing and wondered why.

Do you have an estimate of when the queue will begin moving with the new firmware?

The queue has not moved for a month. Can you set my expectations regarding when new conversions will begin?

My apologies for the delay. We expect our new firmware version to be finished and tested by the end of April and start shipping on May 1.

By the way, what are the differences/improvements/revisions in the new firmware? Were there any issues that made the new version necessary?

I planned to introduce a software focus limit switch to TAT400, but this feature is now dropped because there is immense pressure to deliver sooner instead of with more features.
Being able to directly control the aperture in Movie mode is the big one.
I am introducing diagnostic features, which are undocumented features I will use internally to increase the scope of QC.
There may be more to come, which I do not know until I am done.
Our firmware has remained largely unchanged for almost 2 years, a testimony to how stable the previous codebase was. This is the first major change in quite a while. I hope I am not heading towards the wrong direction - not having direct aperture control is one of the most publicized drawbacks of the 5D2 and if Canon does not address this with a firmware change, you can count on us instead to address this with a firmware change.

Since I never use the movie feature, is there any detriment to using the old, not-updated firmware?

There may be slight sample variation between camera bodies. For a small aperture lens, the difference is undetectable, but for a f/1.4 lens like this, we may have to match up the camera body and the lens for the highest AF accuracy. When you get the lens you may just take a few shots of difficult subjects, such as newsprint. It should be tack sharp even wide open at f/1.4. If it is not sharp, just follow the AF micro-adjustment procedure and try values like -1 or +1. The adjustment value should be small and if it isn't, contact us for assistance.

Will there be a way to easily update the firmware of existing converted lenses?
