And I think I know exactly who you mean, although I still like his partner ...

Anyway, I tend to accept life as it comes - I find I'm happier that way. Right now I need to accept that the howling winds took out my satellite dish and part of the roofing material last night Very Happy

Hi - I'm new to the forum, but it might solve my problem.
I have a Contax N Digital with 3 lenses 17-35mm, 24-85mm, and 70-300mm all Zeiss of course.
The question is, do I sell the whole lot and replace with Canon EOS body plus Canon lenses, or do I get the Canon body and have my lenses converted.
There's nothing wrong with my N Digital for subjects like landscapes, but the technology is 5 years old now, and time moves on - it would be great if it auto-focussed better and had a greater ISO range. I bought it because I love the quality of the image from the Zeiss lenses.
Has anyone compared a Canon converted 17-35mm Zeiss against the new Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II USM - new version.
I'd love to hear what others have done - anyone in a similar situation?

Welcome....

I Would Keep Your Lenses, Have Bo-Ming Convert All Three, And Sell Your "N Digital" ... Replacing It With A Full Frame Canon...
Which Is Up To You. The 3 Choices (1Ds, 1Ds MkII, 5D) Have Advantages And Disadvantages... $$$ , Physical Size, MP, Age, etc...
But You Will Not Go Wrong With Your Choice. I Own 6 Of The 9 "N Lenses" Two Being The Same As Yours 17-35, 24-85...
In My Opinion, Nothing Canon Has, Offers An Equal To These Lenses...
The Contax Zooms I Own, Are The Only Zooms In My Kit.

Besides Here, Look At : http://www.16-9.net/forum/

Between The Two Sites, Most All Of Your Questions Will Be Answered ...

Good Luck

Hello to everyone, newb to the forum here. Having just acquired a nice 24-85, I'm looking forward to sending off my lens for Bo-Ming's conversion. (Bo-Ming, if you're reading this, please re-send your ship-to address. Your last e-mail had an incomplete addy for some reason.)

Best Regards,
Mike

Hi,

I'm looking at using a converted N24-85 instead of my canon 24-105...smaller, lighter, zeiss look, etc.

How much does it cost to have the lens converted?
Where can I find the instruction of procedures?
Lastly, Is contax 70-300 f/4-5.6 a good lens?
Sorry for many newbie question.

huhging..

The Cost Varies By Lens...
If You Look At The FAQ Section On This Web Site, Most Of Your Inquires
Will Be Answered... The 70-300 Is A Tad Soft At The Long End, And Slow.
But Still A Zeiss And Better Than Many Other Alternatives..

Don't Worry About Questions, Everyone Here Is More Than Willing To Help.

As the previous post suggest, it can use some help at the long end, but if you stop it down just one stop, the image quality is very very good.
It can compare against what canon has in the same zoom range.

What you really get is the Zeiss look (color, contrast) to your images - something not many other lenses are capable of.

My issue with this lens is that it is heavy and it does not have a tripod mount. Why Zeiss could not provide a tripod foot for this lens is something I do not understand.

Hi Conurus,
I am new on this forum.
I think of mounting my Zeiss vario-sonar N mount 28/80 lens on a Cannon EOS Digital Rebel XSi. Can this be done?.
Thanks.
Vincent.

Thank you for joining us. For 28-80, we are not ready yet, but we are still working on it.
